I’m local to Asheville and I’m so happy I took this tour! I learned so much about the beauty, creativity and ingenuity of the artists who live here. (And also artists who have visited here to paint murals). I took my 11 year old on the tour and he also loved it. Afterwards we were constantly pointing out murals we saw and new ones to family and friends. I saw my city anew after this tour! Sadly many of the murals we saw in the River Arts District were likely destroyed by the flooding of Hurricane Helene. I’m so sad for our city, our people, our artists, and our art! I hope that Mountain Mural Tours can continue and show visitors and locals how we are rebuilding and redecorating and also new murals in other areas of town where the art has survived. I will sign up again in a heartbeat!

I had a wonderful experience on my recent Mountain Mural Tour. Krista and Louis were fantastic tour guides, offering a wonderfully paced back-and-forth discussion with a nice mix of information about the graffiti art and artists themselves, as well as Asheville history and cultural context. The timing was also perfect - not too long, not too short - and the fact that it is a vehicular tour is something important for people with mobility issues to know -- not a lot of walking on the tour I went on, which can be helpful when having a multigenerational group visit, for example. I am a local and their tour gave me a much-needed boost and appreciation for the town in which I live and work.

I did the Mountain Mural walking tour in the Foundy and had a great time! Krista and Louis were knowledgeable and funny. I enjoyed seeing a variety of graffiti art and murals, many in hidden nooks. This old industrial area remade into an art park is unique. Learning about the many artists, styles of work, and history made it even more interesting. Recommended for locals and out of town folks!

Krista was a great tour guide. She is very knowledgeable of mural art and graffiti. I had no idea that was such a rich history of those art forms. Plus we got to see parts of the city that we would have otherwise missed. Krista‘s husband Lewis was the driver and he also provided great tidbits of information. They made the trip lots of fun. They are a delightful couple.

I have lived in West Asheville - the heart of graffiti and mural art in Asheville - since 1996. But I had no idea of the richness and diversity of the outdoor wall art culture until I took the Mountain Mural tour. Krista and Lewis are amazingly well-informed about the history of this art form, and are personally acquainted with many of the artists. I will never look at the local wall art in the same way again. This was the best hour and a half I’ve spent in Asheville in a long time.

In the past year, I successfully organized eight Mountain mural tours for a local retirement community. Our residents, who are well-traveled, highly educated, and culturally aware, were absolutely thrilled with the vibrant Ashevill Art Scene tours. The staff at Mountain Mural tours were not only professional and knowledgeable, but they also made the experience incredibly enjoyable. What's even more remarkable is that, for the very first time, I did not receive a single complaint from the nearly 100 participants. This is a true testament to the exceptional service provided. As an activity coordinator, planning these tours with Mountain Mural tours was exceptionally easy. The staff responded promptly to my emails and questions, making the planning process a breeze. We eagerly anticipate continuing our partnership with Mountain Mural tours for many more years to come.

I had the privilege of taking a group of high school student interns on this tour for our "Hospitality Camp" summer experience. I'm not sure who enjoyed it most--the adults or the students! We all were wowed and amazed to view our town through the perspective of the art we see each day (and often take for granted). The owners were fantastic to work with and did an excellent job reaching their intended audience. This was an A+ learning opportunity. I would highly recommend this for educators and students, any local interested in learning about Asheville through an entirely different lens, and certainly any tourist looking for an Asheville tour off the beaten path. This was an afternoon well spent!

Had so much fun and learned a ton on the Mountain Mural tour. The bus was air conditioned and cool on a steamy day so that was much appreciated. Krista and Lewis were really engaging tour guides and a super fun couple that bounced back and forth talking about the murals and history of Asheville. We lucked out and got to see a mural painting being done before our eyes! They know so much about the artists and pointed out things I’ve walked by but never noticed. Highly recommend!

This was a wonderful tour. Krista and Lewis did a great job describing the kinds of murals, the ways they are made, and who makes them--all as we rode comfortably in a small air conditioned bus all over the city. They included lots of history and background information. We gained a new perspective on this art form (and an appreciation of them) that now makes our driving around Asheville so much more interesting. We live here and plan to take all of our guests on this tour. It is unlike any other introduction to Asheville!

Mountain Murals offered an awesome tour for our residents. A small group had a great time learning more about the murals and their creators. Consensus was that Krista has truly done her research and therefore had a wealth of information to share about the artists and the artwork. Unfortunately we didn't know that our two residents in motorized chairs would have to use tablets to see, as the view from their seats on the bus were obstructed. One said they would still have gone, the other wasn't quite as positive. Overall we will work with Mountain Mural again!
